[ O h. The fact it has Kuro looking so distressed and how the sheer presence of Gershom's ex was making him so scared was enough to get a bit of anger bubbling up in him. Something about it almost reminded him of Touma. ]

We can't let his ex find him. If he's this scared with them showing up, there has to be a good reason for it.

[ In other words he's on board for helping. ]

[More than Mahiru knows, actually.

There's a reason Kuro got so angry about what Touma had tried to do.]

There is. His ex is... bad. Obsessive.

[He reaches up, rubbing the side of his neck awkwardly. Normally he's be sinking into his hood, but it's set aside right now.]

...I might need your help, if it comes down to a fight. He's a sorcerer, and I don't know what he's capable of, besides... what he did to Gershom, but he's probably strong.

[...Mahiru needs to know what they're up against, doesn't he? He sends a silent apology to Gershom for a moment.]

Gershom didn't get a real choice in becoming how he is right now. His ex did it.

[ With the more that's being said, the more it just rubs him the wrong way. Especially since he was putting the pieces together with what the guy had told him on arrival. Gershom was turned into a lich and it hadn't didn't sound pleasant by any means, so couple that knowledge with now knowing WHO had done it and what they were like? ]

I don't care if he is strong. We have to fight to keep Gershom safe and away from someone like that.

[ His anger's fired up now, hands balled into fists. ]

Everyone should be given the choice, not have something like that forced upon them.

[Crimson eyes widen briefly as a warmth suffuses his chest that has nothing to do with anger at Mahiru's angry statement. Because... because it was this sort of fierce kindness, this anger, Mahiru's own special brand of it, that always managed to give him just a bit of courage.

He'd never had a choice either, after all. Few people ever cared, considering the result. That Mahiru did care... with Tsurugi, with Gershom... It was...]

...Thank you, Mahiru. That you feel that way... it means a lot.

[His expression softens now as he tilts to the side slightly, resting his shoulder against Mahiru's.]

[ People being treated in any way horribly has never been something he's ever taken lightly and this was no different. Especially when it was with people whom he considered to be his friends. So of course he'd gotten mad about this particular matter, almost ready to go try and find this guy himself but not doing so since it was reckless and possibly dangerous.

Though when Kuro spoke, it was enough to make him blink a little in surprise before looking over at him with a small smile in place. ]

You're welcome. I... don't ever intend for that to change, when it comes to the people I care about.

[ A pause and he exhaled a soft breath, some of the anger deflating just a bit but the determination was still there all the same. ]

You especially. I'm really glad you're here with me, being by my side through everything.

[The restraint was appreciated, too. Kuro didn't want anyone seeking Salvador out-- not now, not yet. Not until they had to.

Ideally, the man would never find out where Gershom lived. But if they approached him without a plan, he could follow them back.

But when Mahiru says all that so plainly... He can't deny how warm and happy that makes him feel. That anger, that care, it was...]

[Except.. there's a flush to his cheeks, almost akin to a blush. It's not something Kuro is usually capable of, but Kizuna can be extra embarrassing in a lot of ways.

....Especially since when he ducks his head in an attempt to hide it, it only means Mahiru can better see the feline ears that have appeared on his head.

[ Having his own words spoken back to him should sound strange, and yet it was in it's entirety, rather comforting. It showed how much of an impact it'd had on Kuro and the reaffirmation of what they were. Not separate or alone anymore. They were in this together.

Just hearing his companion - and friend - say that AND admit something like that though? It was enough to make his chest feel warm, though a look of surprise crossed his face for a brief moment. Not that he minded such honesty, but more that Mahiru had to make sure he wasn't just seeing things right now.

Was... Kuro blushing? Then there were the uh.... ears. ]

You're right. It's both of us now and neither one has to deal with things alone.

[ A pause. He can't entirely resist what follows though, those ears and the blush from before super distracting. Mahiru reached up with one hand to touch one of the ears, to see if he was imagining them or not. ]

Is this what Kizuna's capable of?
